While in Halifax, she established herself as a prominent member of the local hip hop scene.

A youth mentor within the GEM (Girls Empowering Mentoring Program) and dance instructor in the Halifax community, Kool Krys demonstrated her commitment to being a positive role model for youths. She shared her passion for hip hop through performing and participating in numerous shows with the University of King’s College Dance Collective, FemFest, the Khyber Centre for the Arts, and various venues in Halifax. Kool Krys also co-hosted the radio show "Wax Museum" on Dalhousie University’s CKDU 88.1 FM.
A writer for her university newspaper, Kool Krys interviewed local and international hip hop artists, including Buck 65, Kardinal Offishall, and K-OS and she informed her community about their music and performances in Halifax.
The Kool Krys rap identity came through performances at Halifax venues and building with dynamic east coast artists. In 2007, Kool Krys released her debut album, “The Return of Diana Prince,” featuring talented Halifax artists and production by Canadian producer Bix.

In 2007, she returned to her hometown Ottawa to pursue her studies in public relations. While developing her communications skills, Kool Krys dedicated herself to writing and recording her second album "Perfume," produced by Bix. The album features Canadian hip hop heavy hitters Eternia, Ghettosocks, and Jesse Dangerously and American hip hop/indie artist Sontiago.

Kool Krys' long-awaited release of her second album "Perfume" will take place on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010 at Babylon Nightclub - 317 Bank Street in Ottawa. Doors open at 11 p.m. $5 cover.
The release show will feature performances by Halifax rap artist Ghettosocks and Ottawa's Dee Jay Frame, and a beat showcase by Bix.
